United Way Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the lifeblood of United Way and its agency partners. Non-profit organizations could not survive without them.

United Way of Allen County's primary volunteer opportunity is with Learn United, an initiative designed to connect community members with children who need help improving their literacy skills. Please see below for more information about Learn United.

Other community-wide volunteer opportunities are available through the Volunteer Center @ RSVP and NeighborLink. Please see below for more information.

Learn United

United Way's Learn United effort needs volunteers willing to help children who are struggling with reading. Learn United is a ten-year commitment to helping local third-graders read at grade level. Currently more than 1,000 local third-graders do not pass the language portion of the ISTEP test.

By visiting the volunteer section of www.LearnUnited.org or calling 260.469.4030, volunteers can explore and then register for a variety of volunteer opportunities. Volunteers all have background checks and receive training.

Community Volunteer Opportunities

United Way partners with the Volunteer Center @ RSVP and NeighborLink for volunteer opportunities. The Volunteer Center has a wide range of volunteer opportunities and can be contacted at www.volunteerfortwayne.org.

For residents seeking help with a work project, such as yardwork, Neighbor Link is a good source for help. The project can be posted and volunteer groups can choose to help complete the project. United Way encourages individuals needing help with projects to contact NeighborLink. Individuals seeking community service projects should also contact Neighborlink at http://www.neighborlinkfortwayne.org.

In addition, volunteer opportunities exist at our 37 agency partners  or, for other community volunteer opportunities, follow these links:
